With his Green Bay Packers on a bye week this weekend, there’s no better time for Bryan Bulaga to head back to his alma mater for homecoming weekend.
The former Iowa offensive lineman will serve as honorary captain Saturday when the Hawkeyes host Northwestern.
Bulaga, 27, played three years at Iowa from 2007-09, forgoing his senior year to enter the 2010 NFL draft. He was selected 23rd overall by the Packers and was a part of their Super Bowl-winning team in his rookie year. At the time, Bulaga was the youngest player to ever start in a Super Bowl.
The Crystal Lake, Ill., native won Big Ten Offensive Lineman of the Year in his final year in Iowa Ciy and was also a first team All-American.
