The drought is over

Iowa picked up its first bowl victory since 2010, beating Boston College 27-20 in the Pinstripe Bowl on Wednesday. Cornerback Josh Jackson tied a program record for interceptions in the game, coach Kirk Ferentz received the game ball and running back Akrum Wadley had a dream ending to his career, earning MVP honors not far from his home state of New Jersey.

Now that’s an Iowa victory

The Hawkeyes needed the most Iowa-type win possible to walk out of New York with a win. It started with a premonition, included a strip sack and ended with a 1-yard touchdown run. No, the premonition isn’t really Iowa’s thing, but the rest of it is, especially how the 1-yard touchdown came about.

Make room at the top

Ferentz also tied Hayden Fry for the most wins in Iowa football history. Ferentz will need to wait a while to pass Fry. The Hawkeyes don’t play again until September.

Not your normal bowl game

Yes, the Pinstripe Bowl was an odd game. Players wore basketball shoes and that wasn’t the strangest part. Andrew Bucholtz of the Comeback broke down the 10 weirdest moments at Yankee Stadium.

Riding the wave

The Kinnick Wave made its way from Iowa to New York. The Pinstripe Bowl fans took part in the wave, the tradition that started this season at Kinnick Stadium.

Oh yeah, recruiting

Which Iowa football signees are in the best position to play as freshman? Land of 10 dives into the question in the latest Iowa recruiting mailbag.

News dump

Iowa basketball guard Connor McCaffery won’t be playing anytime soon. He recently underwent a tonsillectomy. The news came out shortly before the Pinstripe Bowl started. He is out indefinitely.
