“On and off the floor I am someone who can be a team leader and show teammates how to do things the right way,” Pemsl said via the release. “Iowa is a place I believe I can grow, not only on the floor, but off the floor.”
As a sophomore last year, Pemsl played in 32 games, averaging 5.7 points per game and 4.5 rebounds to lead the bench in scoring.
As a freshman, the 6-foot-8, 240-pound Dubuque, Iowa product started 14 games and appeared in 34, averaging 8.9 points per game and five boards per game.
Now as a junior, he said the team has been working hard in the offseason and is confident in the season ahead.
He also said he wants to be a leader moving forward.
“I think I am a likeable teammate who is looked up to by both younger guys and upperclassmen,” Pemsl said. “I try to bring more to the game than just basketball. I try to impact our team in a variety of ways. I believe I can be a guy who can lead this team.”
