IOWA CITY, Iowa — Former Iowa CB Greg Mabin agreed to terms with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent on Sunday.
The 6-foot-2, 198-pound Mabin started 35 games from his sophomore to senior seasons before breaking his right foot and missing the final four games of his senior year. In three years, Mabin had 3 interceptions and 144 tackles playing opposite Desmond King.
Lance Zierlein of NFL.com wrote Mabin “looks comfortable and competent from bail coverage. Shows better stop-start change of direction laterally than hip tightness would suggest. Stakes a claim with inside leverage and fights to maintain it. … Not a playmaker. Too tall in his backpedal. Hips are stiff and limit his reactive quickness. Short-strider unable to drive hard to the throw once it’s out of quarterback’s hands.”
Before the draft, ESPN Scouts Inc. rated Mabin as the No. 41 available cornerback, while CBSSports.com ranked him 47th.
Mabin is a native of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
