The body of former NFL and Indiana wide receiver James Hardy was found in the Maumee River in Fort Wayne, Ind., a coroner confirmed to WANE. Hardy was 31.

Hardy, a Fort Wayne native, starred as a wideout for the Hoosiers from 2005-2007, earning first-team All-Big Ten honors during his final season. He also played on Indiana’s basketball team for two seasons.
Hardy was selected in the second round (41st overall) in the 2008 NFL Draft by the Buffalo Bills. Hardy spent three seasons with Buffalo and another season with the Baltimore Ravens before leaving the NFL following the 2011 campaign.
