Indiana releases statement on defensive tackle cited for underage drinking
Indiana has released a statement Wednesday, addressing Jerome Johnson’s recent citation for underage drinking.
The university released the following statement: “We are aware of the situation, we will continue to monitor it as details become available and will take appropriate action.”
The freshman defensive tackle was found passed out in a stairwell around 1:40 a.m. early Saturday by a resident assistant staff member, who called the police. Johnson was taken to a nearby hospital, where he received his citation from the Indiana University Police Department.
Prior to Indiana’s season opener last Thursday against Florida International, six Hoosiers were suspended for, according to another Indiana release, “not living up to their responsibilities to the program at different times since the conclusion of the 2015 season.”
