For many programs, de-commitments have changed the entire complexion of their 2018 recruiting class.
That’s not the case with Indiana, which had only three de-commitments. And one of those players, 3-star athlete Cam Jones, recommitted to the Hoosiers about five months after giving his initial pledge.
Still, it’s worth noting who coach Tom Allen and his staff missed out on, so here’s a look at Indiana’s de-commits ahead National Signing Day on Wednesday.
3-star SDE Randy Charlton (Miami) — Signed with UCF
Charlton’s recruitment was an unusual one that mostly played out over a three-day span late last December.
First, on the morning of Dec. 20, Charlton announced he would sign with Florida International at Southridge High School’s signing day press conference.

But mere hours later, he went back on his word and verbally committed to Indiana.
Finally, two days after his pledge to the Hoosiers, Charlton changed his commitment to Central Florida and signed his National Letter of Intent the same day.

The loss hurt Indiana in that Charlton would have been the Hoosiers’ sixth-highest-ranked recruit for 2018, according to 247Sports’ composite rankings, and the second-best defensive player behind high school teammate and strong-side defensive end James Head.
Charlton is the No. 21 player at his position and No. 110 in the state of Florida for 2018.
3-star RB Kristian Pechac (Bloomington, Ind.) — Undecided
When Pechac committed to Indiana last April, he became just the fourth member of the Hoosiers’ recruiting class.
However, Pechac de-committed about two months later and has yet to choose a final college destination. In addition to Indiana, he has offers from Kentucky, Toledo, Akron, Bowling Green, Cincinnati and Minnesota.
Pechac — the No, 64 running back recruit and No. 13 prospect in the state of Indiana — has a good shot to land at Toledo, according to 247Sports.
