After one season of sparse minutes at Indiana, rising sophomore guard Grant Gelon has been granted his release from the program, according to reports.
Peegs.com’s Jeff Rabjohns broke the news early Wednesday, but there is no official word from the program or any word on where Gelon will play next.
The 6-foot-5 Gelon averaged 3.2 minutes per game during his freshman season, playing a season-high 7 minutes against SIU-Edwardsville in December.
Gelon, who is from Crown Point, Ind., had a career-high 8 points in 2 minutes of play against Michigan in January and averaged 1.8 points per game on the season with no assists.
Hoosiers new head coach Archie Miller still has seven guards on the roster with no seniors graduating, although James Blackmon Jr. is expected to test his chances at the 2017 NBA Draft.
