From 1973-82, ESPN’s Lee Corso was the head football coach at Indiana University.
Finally, 35 years after his final game coaching the Hoosiers, he returns to Bloomington, Ind. with the rest of ESPN’s College GameDay cast to preview and pick the winner of Thursday’s season opener for Indiana-Ohio State.
Below are a couple videos showing Corso talking to the media about his return to Indiana, Hoosiers football as a whole and the keys to Thursday’s clash between the Hoosiers and Buckeyes, which is set for an 8 p.m. ET start on ESPN.
“If [Indiana] can stay close to [Ohio State] and put it close in the fourth quarter, you never know,” Corso said. “Stay close with them defensively. Because I’ll tell you, if it gets to be a shootout, running and throwing the ball (…) no chance. But, defensively, if they come up with some big plays and play well on defense, that will be the secret of the game tonight if they play well, and I think they can.”
