Illinois is looking to make a statement in its first big home game under Lovie Smith. The Fighting Illini certainly showed something on their first drive against North Carolina.
On Illinois’ third play of the game, running back Ke’Shawn Vaughn broke loose — on his first carry of the game — for a 65-yard touchdown to put his team up 7-0 early. Watch the video below:

Illinois was a seven-point underdog in this game, but is looking for the win to become 2-0. The Illini started Smith’s tenure with a win against Murray State.
