“First of all I want to thank God and my mom for always supporting me during the process I also wanna thanks the Illinois staff for giving me this great opportunity special thanks to Flying Star and Florida Prep,” Kane wrote on Twitter.
Kane attends Florida Prep Academy in Melbourne, Fla., and he is not rated in the 247Sports composite star system. Kane received his offer from Illinois last week and was on an official visit in Champaign this weekend, according to 247Sports.
Kane is the third member of Illinois’ 2019 recruiting class. The big man joins 5-star combo guard Ayo Dosunmu and shooting guard Alan Griffin.
Illinois struggled in Brad Underwood’s first season, finishing 14-18 (4-14 in the Big Ten) during the 2017-18 campaign.
