Although 3-star QB Quincy Patterson was heavily recruited by Illinois, the 2018 recruit announced his commitment to Virginia Tech on Monday. He also received offers from Michigan State, which he visited, Penn State, Northwestern, Indiana and Iowa.
Patterson, who’s a Chicago native, is the No. 542 recruit in the 2018 class by 247sports composite. The Solorio Academy product is the No. 18 dual-threat quarterback and the No. 10 overall player from Illinois.

While the 6-foot-4, 232-pound junior won’t make his way down to Champaign, another signal caller from the class of 2018 could join the program. QB Coran Taylor, who was offered a scholarship by coach Lovie Smith, appears to be a viable option for the Illini. Taylor slots in as the No. 31 dual-threat quarterback.
