Photos: Illinois’ new basketball hall of fame almost complete
Fans of Illinois basketball have a lot to look forward to when the season tips off in November.
On Thursday, the Illini men’s basketball team’s official Twitter account posted photos of one of many new additions to the State Farm Center — the Mannie L. Jackson Illinois Basketball Hall of Fame.

It’s a great sneak peak at what will surely be a must-see display for every Illinois fan, and even visiting fans who are interested in some of the truly great teams in Big Ten history. Check out those full cases dedicated to the 1988-89 “Flying Illini,” the “Whiz Kids” of the 1940s and of course the 2004-05 Big Ten Championship team.
The display was made possible by a $3 million donation from Jackson, the Illinois legend and former Harlem Globetrotter. If you’re unfamiliar with Jackson’s story or need a refresher, this profile of him from 2011 is definitely worth your time.
The hall of fame is just one of many upgrades that will make for a completely new experience at the State Farm Center this season.
