A big-time 2018 basketball recruit from Chicago will be making the short trip to Champaign this weekend.
Ayo Dosunmu, rated as a five-star recruit by Scout and the No. 34 overall prospect in the 2018 class by 247 Sports, will be taking a visit to Illinois’ campus this weekend, according to Derek Piper of Scout.

Dosunmu has a dozen offers, including ones from Cincinnati, Florida State, Wisconsin and St. John’s. But Illinois looks to be one of the early frontrunners to get the 6-foot-3, 160 pound floor general.
Dosunmu is rated as the fifth-best point guard in his class and 2018’s best recruit from Illinois.
He could continue a solid recruiting trend for John Groce and the Illini. Illinois currently has the third-ranked 2017 recruiting class which features five-star forward Jeremiah Tilmon. The Illini do not yet have any verbal pledges in the 2018 class.
