Illinois’ 2017 football schedule now looks a little different.
The Illini’s non-conference road game against South Florida has been moved up a day from Saturday to Friday, Sept. 15. The Illini announced the change on Thursday.
The game will be played in primetime, but there’s no exact time yet. It will be on ESPN.

Illinois went 3-9 (2-7 Big Ten) in coach Lovie Smith’s first season. The Bulls went 11-2 and finished ranked in the Top 25, though coach Willie Taggart left for Oregon. Former Louisville and Texas head coach Charlie Strong is now South Florida’s coach.
The Illini open up the 2017 season at home against Ball State of the Mid-American Conference on Saturday, Sept. 2. The Illini then play at home against Western Kentucky on Saturday, Sept. 9. The following week’s road game at South Florida concludes the non-conference part of the schedule.
Smith’s team then begins Big Ten play on Friday, Sept. 29, at home against Nebraska.
