As Hurricane Irma threatens Florida and millions of people in the South, Illinois reportedly has offered to move the game Friday in Tampa to Champaign, Ill., as reported by Tim Ditman of The News-Gazette.
The athletic directors of both schools have had preliminary talks about moving the game, though they will talk more in the coming days. The Bulls-Illini game is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET on ESPN.
As reported by Ditman, Illinois athletics spokesman Kent Brown said the decision will be up to South Florida because it’s the Bulls’ home game.
South Florida is ranked No. 21 and is 2-0. But the Bulls’ game this week at Connecticut won’t be played because of the hurricane and safety and travel concerns.
USF at UConn will not be played due to Hurricane #Irma 's threat to state of Florida & safe travel.
