Illinois announced Saturday that sophomore guard Jalen Coleman-Lands fractured a bone in his right hand during a workout Wednesday and will be sidelined eight weeks.
He had surgery on the hand Friday.

Coleman-Lands appeared in all 34 games last year as a freshman, averaging 10.3 points per game. He set a Fighting Illini freshman record with 87 made 3-pointers.
On the current timeline, Coleman-Lands would be ready just in time for Illinois’ season opener against Southeast Missouri State on Nov. 11. The Illini play their first exhibition game on Oct. 30.
