Illinois football lands second 3-star of the day, DL Olalere Oladipo
Just hours after receiving a commitment from 3-star wide receiver Carmoni Green, Lovie Smith and Illinois received a pledge from 3-star defensive lineman Olalere Oladipo.

Oladipo, at 6-feet-3, 238 pounds, was compared to another Illinois great by his former high school coach.
“To be honest he reminds me of Simeon Rice,” John Hart told 247Sports. “I happened to be around when Simeon was coming out of high school, and I know (former Illini defensive coordinator) coach Denny Marcin and we were close back then, so I’ve seen a ton of tape on Simeon in high school. He was raw and incredibly athletic and that’s where Lere is. His motor and his athleticism is hard to match with anybody you’ll ever see.”
Oladipo, who had offers from Michigan State, California, Penn State and Duke, is the Illini’s 11th commit in the class of 2017.
