The Illini have made a late addition to their 2017 basketball recruiting class. Matic Vesel ― a 6-foot-10 forward from Slovenia ― committed to Illinois on Monday night, according to Scout.

Vesel is the fifth commit in the Illini’s class, which coach Brad Underwood inherited after he was hired in March. Vesel joins a 2017 class comprised of 4-star guards Mark Smith and Trent Frazier as well as 3-star recruits DaMonte Williams and Gregory Eboigbodin.
Vesel’s commitment helps fill the void left by 4-star forward Jeremiah Tilmon, who de-committed from Illinois after John Groce was fired.
Illinois’ class was ranked 25th in the country and first in the Big Ten in the 247Sports composite rankings prior to Vesel’s commitment.
