Illinois baseball and Michael Massey will have some hardware to add to the trophy case.
Massey won the Rawlings Gold Glove award as the nation’s best second baseman in college baseball, it was announced Wednesday.

Massey committed just 1 error all season in 53 starts, good for a .996 fielding percentage. The error ended a run of 60 straight games without an error dating back to April 22 of last season. He had 114 putouts and 166 assists, as well.
Massey also handled himself well at the plate as a sophomore, hitting .326 with 6 home runs and 46 RBI.
He was named to the All-Big Ten second team this season after earning third-team honors as a freshman.
