Illinois basketball made a late addition to its 2018 recruiting class this week as big man Giorgi Bezhanishvili committed to Brad Underwood’s program. Adam Zagoria reported Bezhanishvili’s commitment early Tuesday morning.

Bezhanishvili is listed at 6-foot-9, 230 pounds and also had offers from Minnesota, St. Bonaventure, Manhattan and Hofstra, according to 247Sports.
A native of Austria, Bezhanishvili played for St. Patrick High School in Elizabeth, N.J., during the 2017-18 season. He is the fourth member of Illinois’ 2018 class, joining 5-star guard Ayo Dosunmu, 3-star power forward Samba Kane and shooting guard Alan Griffin. The Illini’s class was ranked 48th in the country and ninth in the Big Ten by the 247Sports composite prior to Bezhanishvili’s commitment.
