The Jones brothers are both from Champaign, and Clayton played at Champaign Central High School. Clayton played at the junior college level last season, averaging 8.3 points per game for Lakeland.
Verdell, on the other hand, played at Indiana from 2008-2012, giving Tom Crean significant minutes as the Hoosiers rebuilt their program. He averaged 11.5 points and 3.3 assists in 117 career games for Indiana. The Hoosiers went 6-25 his freshman year, but they won 27 games and reached the Sweet 16 in Jones’ senior season.
The 27-year-old played 50 games in the NBA D-League with the Santa Cruz Warriors last season.
