Wednesday is the first day of March, which can only mean we are just days away from the busted brackets and Cinderella upsets that come with NCAA Tournament.
However, when it comes to the Big Dance this year, the Big Ten doesn’t have as good of a shot as it did to win the 2016 NCAA Tournament. According to the Bovada sportsbook, Wisconsin and Purdue have the best odds of winning the 2017 National Championship.

Purdue has the best odds of all Big Ten teams at 28-1, followed by Wisconsin, which is mired in a late-season slump, at 33-1.
The Badgers, who at one point last year also held the same 33-1 odds to win the 2016 National Championship according to Bovada, are currently being projected as No. 6 seed in the East region by ESPN’s Joe Lundardi. Wisconsin clinched a Sweet 16 berth as a No. 7 seed in the 2016 NCAA Tournament, so while the going looks tough for the Badgers, it would be foolish to count them out from making a long tournament run.
On the other hand, the Boilermakers won a share of the Big Ten title Tuesday night after defeating Indiana, 86-75, and are currently projected as a No. 4 seed by ESPN.
Following Purdue and Wisconsin are Maryland (50-1) and Michigan State (66-1). The Spartans’ 2017 odds are a far cry from last season’s pre-tournament title odds, which were the second-best at 11-2, according to Bovada.
Odds for the rest of the Big Ten: Minnesota (100-1), Michigan (150-1), Indiana (250-1) and Northwestern (300-1).
