Alabama is ranked No. 1 and the defending national champion. Coach Nick Saban has the Tide thinking about winning national title No. 5 since 2009.
But Alabama will encounter obstacles on the way. The Big Ten could provide a big hurdle.
Fox Sports’ Aaron Torres listed only nine teams that could beat Alabama this season, with both Ohio State and Michigan making the cut. In fact, Torres ranked Ohio State as the potential top adversary.
Torres put Michigan sixth, complimenting the Wolverines’ defense and special teams. Such a matchup would come in the College Football Playoff, when the world would get Nick Saban vs. Jim Harbaugh.
Basically it’d be like Taylor Swift’s “Bad Blood” music video (and her feud with Katy Perry) come to college football. Who wouldn’t want to see that?
But Ohio State is the main threat, at least according to Torres. Ohio State has had recent success against the Tide recently, of course, when the Buckeyes beat Alabama in the first year of the CFP. Ohio State is also ranked No. 2 in the country with a powerful offense and dominant defense. Plus, the Buckeyes have coach Urban Meyer.
Here’s Torres on Ohio State:
There aren’t many teams that match up incredibly well with Alabama, but the Buckeyes are one of them. They’re also the team most likely to beat the Crimson Tide if they play this season.
College football fans dream of another Ohio State-Alabama showdown. We’ll see if it happens this season — and with a national championship up for grabs.
