Athlon sports released its preseason All-Big Ten teams this week with some familiar names on the first team.
Penn State QB Trace McSorley, Ohio State DE Nick Bosa and Wisconsin RB Jonathan Taylor were unsurprisingly all first-team selections. Athlon Sports put together four preseason All-Big Ten teams, and they can be found here.
Here are some interesting notes from those selections:
- Wisconsin led the league with eight first-team picks. Four of them were offensive linemen in Tyler Biadasz, David Edwards, Michael Deiter and Beau Benzschawel. Taylor, linebacker T.J. Edwards, safety D’Cota Dixon and kicker Rafael Gaglianone were the other first-team Badgers.
- Michigan had six first-team picks. All of them were on defense. The Wolverines defense under Don Brown might be the best in the Big Ten in 2018. Rashan Gary and Chase Winovich on the defensive line, linebackers Devin Bush and Khaleke Hudson and cornerbacks Lavert Hill and David Long were the six Wolverines on the first team.
- Ohio State had seven first-team picks. Two of them were on special teams: punter Drue Chrisman and kick returner Parris Campbell.
- The only other Penn State player on the first team aside from McSorley was punt returner DeAndre Thompkins. The Nittany Lions had five players on the second team.
