The Big Ten men’s basketball calendar will be changing for the 2017-18 season.
Big Ten teams will play two conference games each during the first week in December, and the 2018 league tournament at Madison Square Garden in New York will be held a week earlier than normal to avoid a conflict with the Big East Tournament, according to NBC Sports.
Big Ten teams will play two games, either on Thursday-Saturday or Friday-Sunday, the first weekend in December. All teams reportedly will play one of those games on the road and one at home. Those early conference games will be played the same week as the annual ACC/Big Ten Challenge.
That will make for a hectic week for Big Ten teams, and it will come less than a month after the season tips off. The Big Ten Tournament was held in Washington in 2017 (during its normal week). Both locations are part of the conference’s push toward the East Coast.
