The Big Ten had four teams in the top 10 entering Saturday. At least one had to go down.
No. 2 Ohio State outlasted No. 8 Wisconsin in an overtime thriller. No. 4 Michigan was off, and No. 10 Nebraska hung on at Indiana.
Here’s where we see the Big Ten teams landing in the new AP Poll, set to come out Sunday afternoon.
Previous: No. 2
New: No. 2
Ohio State won its 20th-straight road game under Urban Meyer and while it wasn’t perfect, Wisconsin deserves a lot of credit for slowing down the Buckeyes for so long. That’s a heck of a team.
Alabama still hasn’t slipped up at all and will remain at No. 1 with no issues.
Previous: No. 4
New: No. 3
Clemson needed a missed field goal by N.C. State to get to overtime and looked sloppy all afternoon. Voters will remember Michigan’s 78-0 win over Rutgers from last week and jump the Wolverines to No. 3.
Previous: No. 8
New: No. 10
Wisconsin held up in its test against a top-2 team a whole lot better than No. 9 Tennessee in the same circumstance. No. 12 Ole Miss went down at Arkansas.
Because the AP Poll is inherently flawed, Nebraska will jump Wisconsin. The Badgers drop to No. 10, just behind Baylor and the Huskers.
Previous: No. 10
New: No. 9
Nebraska won, barely. But it will still move up.
Voters won’t like the effort as a whole, though, and Baylor will jump to No. 8 after beating down Kansas.
