The Big Ten’s best teams, with one slip up, had an excellent day on Saturday.
Michigan State and Ohio State posted big road wins over ranked teams and Michigan took care of business at home. Here’s where we see the Big Ten teams landing in the AP Poll, set to come out Sunday afternoon.
Some late games are still pending, including No. 11 Texas at Cal.
No. 2 Ohio State
Week 2: No. 3
No, Louisville won’t jump all the way to No. 2.
That’s because the Buckeyes did plenty to show why they should be right behind Alabama after dismantling Oklahoma on Saturday. Despite being the youngest team in the country, Ohio State is as good as anyone.
No. 4 Michigan
Week 2: No. 4
But Louisville will jump to No. 3, ahead of Michigan. The Wolverines went down early against Colorado, but bounced back to win 45-28.
The Cardinals demolished No. 2 Florida State 63-20 and get voted ahead of Michigan, which stays at No. 4.
No. 9 Michigan State
Week 2: No. 12
Michigan State’s 36-28 win over Notre Dame is enough to get it in the top 10, but not any higher. Stanford, Houston, Washington and Louisville will all stay put or move up, and Wisconsin will drop back.
Florida State will also drop out of the top 10, opening up that spot for the Spartans.
No. 12 Wisconsin
Week 2: No. 9
Speaking of the Badgers, voters will probably realize they overrated this team a little bit after two weeks. They just got by Georgia State, 23-17, and will get jumped by Louisville and Michigan State, certainly.
Florida State will stay just ahead of Wisconsin, pushing it back to No. 12.
No. 22 Nebraska
Week 2: Not ranked
Nebraska cracks the top 25 for the first time after a few teams drop out, including Oregon, which it beat. The Huskers have been receiving votes for the first two weeks of the season.
Week 2: No. 13
Voters won’t excuse a loss to an FCS team, no matter how good North Dakota State is. And though a handful of teams in the back of the top 25 lost on Saturday, this was enough to drop Iowa out.
