Predicting the Associated Press Top 25: Where will Big Ten teams land?
Because the opening-week games continue today and Monday, there won’t be a new AP Poll on Sunday — fans will have to wait a couple more days.
But if you’re hungry for a possible preview of what’s ahead, this will help. Our friends at SEC Country estimated how the upcoming poll will look, and it’ll make Big Ten fans happy.
Defending national champion Alabama, with its 52-6 destruction of USC, will be an easy No. 1. But a pair of top-5 teams in No. 3 Oklahoma and No. 5 LSU (thanks to Wisconsin) took season-opening losses.
Wisconsin will be one of the more intriguing teams this week. The Badgers were unranked going into Saturday’s 16-14 upset of LSU but have a clear argument to be around the Top 10.
Here’s where SEC Country thinks the Big Ten teams will see themselves in the next AP Poll:
4. Ohio State (up two spots)
5. Michigan (up two)
13. Wisconsin (previously unranked). SEC Country:
Few expected Wisconsin to stick with LSU, let alone beat the Tigers. But that’s what the Badgers did, shutting down (well, by previous standards) Leonard Fournette and snagging a game-saving interception in the final minute.
15. Michigan State (down three)
18. Iowa (down one)
