Arizona Bowl history
The Arizona Bowl, which is sponsored by Nova Home Loans, is one of the newest bowl games. It will be in its third year in 2017. The Arizona Bowl made history in an unusual way during its first season in 2015. Two years ago, the game featured Nevada and Colorado State — both teams out of the Mountain West conference. The Sun Belt did not have enough bowl eligible teams to fill its spot that season, so the 2015 Arizona Bowl was the first non-championship bowl game to feature teams from the same conference since the 1979 Orange Bowl. The Nevada-Colorado State matchup was not a rematch, however, as the two sides did not meet during the regular season in 2015. Nevada won the inaugural Arizona Bowl, 28-23, in front of 20,245 fans at Arizona Stadium.
Arizona Bowl 2017: Picks for New Mexico State-Utah State
New Mexico State hasn’t appeared in a bowl game since 1960. Funny enough, that game was against Utah State. Also funny is that both teams are the Aggies.
Kidding aside, this should be a tight game. All-American corner Jalen Davis will lead this strong Utah State defense to a hard-fought victory.
Pick: Utah State 21, New Mexico State 17
