Scott Phillips of College Basketball Talk, NBC Sports’ college hoops blog, released his Big Ten preview Tuesday, and if his predictions come true, Indiana and Michigan State fans are going to enjoy this season.
Indiana sophomore center Thomas Bryant is tabbed as the preseason Big Ten Player of the Year, and is joined on the All-Big Ten First Team by fellow sophomore big man Ethan Happ of Wisconsin and a trio of guards — Iowa senior Peter Jok, Illinois senior Malcolm Hill and Maryland junior Melo Trimble.

Indiana sophomore forward OG Anunoby was selected as the conference’s breakout player and Minnesota coach Richard Pitino was highlighted as the coach under pressure.
While Phillips expects big things from some Hoosiers players, he likes the Spartans’ complete team when it comes down to wins and losses. His predicted order of finish in the Big Ten is Michigan State, Wisconsin, Purdue, Indiana, Michigan, Maryland, Ohio State, Illinois, Northwestern, Penn State, Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska and Rutgers.
