The National Association of Basketball Coaches has weighed in on the best of the Big Ten.
The NABC released its 2017 NCAA Division I all-district teams Wednesday morning, which lists the best players in each of the 25 districts as voted on by the NABC member coaches.
The Big Ten is in District 7, and the selections for the first team and second team are very well spread out. Only one team has multiple members on the two teams, which is Wisconsin with two players (Ethan Happ, Nigel Hayes).
Here are the District 7 NABC first and second teams:
Hayes, Iowa’s Peter Jok and Maryland’s Melo Trimble are the only repeat members from the 2015-16 NABC’s all-district teams.
Jok moved from the second team last year to the first team this year. Trimble remained on the first team for the third straight season, while Hayes remained on the second team for the second consecutive season.
The selection of Caleb Swanigan marks the third year in a row that Purdue has placed a player on the first team. The inclusion of Miles Bridges means Michigan State has a player on the NABC first team for the second straight year.
The NABC’s coach of the year was Minnesota’s Richard Pitino, who led the Gophers to a 24-10 record in 2016-17 season and a No. 5 seed in the NCAA Tournament.
