The Big Ten flexed its muscle at the end of college football’s regular season, sending four teams to New Year’s 6 bowl games.
The conference is stepping up again during March Madness. Three Big Ten teams have reached the Sweet 16, and two of those schools found big-time success on the hardwood and gridiron during the 2016-17 season.
Michigan and Wisconsin are the only two schools in the country to send their football team to a New Year’s 6 bowl game and men’s basketball team to the Sweet 16. This stat was pointed out by MaizeNBrew’s Drew Hallett on Twitter.

Florida State and USC had a chance to join the Badgers and Wolverines in that club, but both schools fell short in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
Wisconsin can claim that it’s the only school to win a New Year’s 6 bowl game and send a team to the Sweet 16, as Michigan fell to Florida State in the Orange Bowl.
Both the Wisconsin and Michigan fan bases have had a lot to cheer about in the last six months. Now they’re hoping it can last two more weeks.
