Move over, SEC, because FOX Sports’ analyst Joel Klatt believes the Big Ten is the best conference in college football this season.

Klatt recorded a video listing three reasons the SEC is no longer the premier college football conference. He cited Alabama’s dominance over the past several years and the league’s lack of prominent coaches.
Then he pointed to on-field play. Take Alabama out of the SEC, Klatt said, and the Big Ten and ACC would have better resumes. In his mind, those are the top two college football conferences.
But while the ACC has had championship success in recent seasons, Klatt said the league isn’t as deep as the Big Ten.
The Big Ten has four legitimate playoff contending teams, coaches, rosters. And so for my money, this year, in 2017, the Big Tens’s the best conference in college football.
Ohio State, Penn State, Wisconsin and Michigan are likely the teams Klatt was referring to, as all four programs start the year in the top 11 of the AP Top 25. The Buckeyes are the highest Big Ten squad at No. 2, followed by the Nittany Lions (No. 6), Badgers (No. 9) and Wolverines (No. 11).
The Buckeyes and Indiana kick off the Big Ten season Thursday night at 8 p.m. ET.
