Many laughed when the New York Mets promoted Tim Tebow to their high Single-A affiliate in St. Lucie, Fla., on Monday.
But the former NFL quarterback and Heisman winner is already quieting those laughs.
Tebow hit a home run in just his fourth at-bat with the club during the second game of the Mets’ doubleheader Wednesday against the Palm Beach Cardinals.

Many mocked the Mets for promoting Tebow as a publicity stunt, as he hit only .220 with New York’s low Single-A affiliate, the Columbia Fireflies. The detractors might not be wrong, but the big club is currently enduring a miserable season. The Mets currently sit at 34-42 and in fourth place in the NL East.
And thus some believe this will all end in Tebow’s eventual call-up to the major leagues, which will likely send the baseball and football worlds into hysteria. Tebow will have to earn it, but it might not take much given the state of the franchise.
