The Big Ten remains in position to possibly send two teams to this season’s College Football Playoff.
ESPN’s Mark Schlabach has both Ohio State and Michigan in his four-team playoff, with the pair joined by Alabama and Louisville. Schlabach has the Buckeyes No. 2 and Michigan No. 4.
But that’s not where Schlabach’s picks raise eyebrows — both the Buckeyes and Wolverines are ranked in the Top 5 in the major polls and Michigan just routed Penn State 49-10.
The big news is Wisconsin getting mentioned among the next four in contention. The Badgers won at No. 8 Michigan State 30-6 and should move well into the Top 10 on Sunday. Schlabach lists Clemson, Houston, Stanford and then the Badgers among his next four fighting for a playoff spot.
Schlabach on Wisconsin:
After upsetting then-No. 5 LSU in the opener and No. 8 Michigan State on Saturday, the Badgers have now defeated multiple AP top-10 opponents in the same season for the first time since 1962.
But the playoff picture won’t look the same next week for the Big Ten, as Wisconsin plays at Michigan at 3:30 p.m. (ET) this upcoming Saturday.
