4-star RB Devyn Ford has Ohio State, Penn State in top 6
Elite running back recruit Devyn Ford released his top six on Thursday: Ohio State, Virginia Tech, Clemson, Penn State, Oklahoma and North Carolina are all listed, and he specifies there’s no order.
Ford, out of North Stafford High School in Virginia, is the No. 7 running back and No. 2 Virginia recruit in the Class of 2019, per 247Sports composite rankings. 247’s crystal ball predictions peg Virginia Tech and Clemson as his top two teams, though he said in an interview with Taft Coghill Jr. of the Free Lance-Star in Fredericksburg, Va. that no school is on top for him.
On Ohio State:
It’s just the environment. I fell in love with it when I went to see one of the games. The people there are really fun. I have a great relationship with [running backs coach] Tony Alford and [head coach] Urban Meyer. It’s pretty cool up there.
On what he likes about Penn State:
They’re a young team but they have a ton of potential to be really, really good. That’s what I’d like to be a part of. Coach [James] Franklin, he’s that man. He’s a really cool person to be around and I’ve also got Nana. I envision playing in the same backfield as Ricky Slade, too. That would be a lot of fun. [Slade] and I have competed a little bit and that’s what I like. That’s how I’ve gotten better.
