This season marks the third edition of the four-team College Football Playoff.
The year’s weekly playoff rankings will be released starting with the conclusion of the Week 9 games, with Nov. 1 set to be the debut date. ESPN will televise the rankings every week.
Here’s the schedule:
- Tuesday, Nov. 1: 7-8 p.m.
- Tuesday, Nov. 8: 7-8 p.m.
- Tuesday, Nov. 15: 9-9:30 p.m.
- Tuesday, Nov. 22: 7-8 p.m.
- Tuesday, Nov. 29: 7-7:30 p.m.
- Sunday, Dec. 4: Noon-4 p.m.
On Dec. 4, the committee will reveal the four playoff teams as well as the New Year’s bowl matchups.
Ohio State won the first CFP, beating Oregon during the 2014 season. Michigan State reached the semifinals in 2015 after beating then-undefeated Iowa in the Big Ten title game, but the Spartans lost to Alabama.
In another Big Ten connection to the playoff, former Michigan coach Lloyd Carr was supposed to be on the committee this year, but he had to step down due to health concerns.
