The Big Ten will be busy around the new year.
That’s according to FOX Sports’ Stewart Mandel, who in his Week 3 projections has Ohio State, Michigan and Wisconsin all playing in New Year’s Six bowls, with the Buckeyes facing Florida State in the College Football Playoff.
“I would not have expected the Buckeyes’ young defense to hold their first two opponents out of the end zone,” Mandel wrote. “We’ll see how they fare against Oklahoma’s big-time offense, but they remain my Big Ten favorites for now.”
Mandel has Michigan playing Stanford in the Rose Bowl on Jan. 2, and Wisconsin meeting Clemson in the Orange Bowl on Dec. 30. That means he thinks the Buckeyes will beat the Wolverines in Columbus on Nov. 26, and the Seminoles doing the same to Clemson in Tallahassee on Oct. 29.
Mandel lists Florida State-Ohio State as the No. 2 vs. No. 3 matchup in the playoff, and Alabama-Washington (presumably with the Tide as the top seed) in the other semifinal.
