CBS Sports’ Jerry Palm updates College Football Playoff projections: No Big Ten teams
The Big Ten went 12-2 in the first week (apologies to Northwestern and Rutgers), with no team in the league bolstering their postseason outlook more than Wisconsin.
The Badgers will surely be ranked when the next polls are out, but CBS Sports‘ Jerry Palm did give a sneak peak of his new bowl predictions — specifically the CFP.
Palm projects the semifinal matchups will be No. 1 Alabama vs. No. 4 Houston and No. 2 Clemson vs. No. 3 Notre Dame.
Glaringly absent, of course, are any Big Ten teams.
Ohio State QB J.T. Barrett had a record-setting opener and Michigan rolled by Hawaii, so the league’s predicted heavy hitters didn’t do anything on the field to raise doubters. Plus, with Oklahoma’s loss to Houston, the Buckeyes road trip to Norman, Okla., in two weeks suddenly doesn’t look so daunting.
Still, after one week, the Big Ten’s postseason future is definitely bright after one week.
Of course, these are just one expert’s projection — and it’s still the first weekend. Palm’s third team hasn’t even played yet, as the Irish visit Texas tonight.
