Along with getting a team into the College Football Playoff, could the Big Ten land two New Year’s Six games, to boot?
Right now, it wouldn’t be too big of a surprise — four Big Ten teams are ranked in the top 10, after all. And right now, CBS Sports’ Jerry Palm has that exact scenario playing out at season’s end.
Palm currently has Ohio State to the CFP with Michigan heading to the Rose Bowl against Stanford. Wisconsin is predicted to be pick for the Orange Bowl to face Louisville.
So where does that leave Nebraska? Palm thinks the Huskers will still go to a big bowl, it just won’t be at the level Nebraska fans are hoping: Outback.
Also of note, Palm still has Michigan State and Maryland going to bowl games, even with 5-7 records. He thinks there won’t be enough bowl-eligible teams this season.
Here are Palm’s Big Ten bowl projections:
Ohio State: College Football Playoff vs. Clemson
Michigan: Rose Bowl vs. Stanford
Wisconsin: Orange Bowl vs. Louisville
Nebraska: Outback Bowl vs. Georgia
Minnesota: Music City Bowl vs. Florida
Indiana: Foster Farms Bowl vs. Washington State
Iowa: Pinstripe Bowl vs. Pitt
Penn State: Holiday Bowl vs. Colorado
Michigan State: Heart of Dallas Bowl vs. Western Kentucky
Northwestern: Quick Lane Bowl vs. Boston College
Maryland: Armed Forces Bowl vs. Navy
No bowl: Illinois, Purdue, Rutgers
