After the shake-up that was last weekend in college football, analysts and writers everywhere are throwing theirs hat into the ring with new Top-10 predictions.
Like Mandel, Feldman has Ohio State at No. 2, which seems to be the consensus after the Buckeyes completed their second straight 62-3 victory on Saturday. The 9-1 Buckeyes may not win the Big Ten East, but they have a great shot of getting into the College Football Playoff and will take on Michigan State this weekend before closing out the regular season against Michigan.
Speaking of the Wolverines, Feldman has them safely in the playoff in the No. 3 spot. Mandel had them at No. 4.
Despite the team’s 14-13 loss to Iowa last week that puts them at 9-1, Feldman justifies the placement with the fact that the Wolverines blew out Penn State and beat Wisconsin and Colorado as well. They’ll take on a tough Indiana team on Saturday before playing the Buckeyes in two weeks.
At No. 6, Feldman has the Nittany Lions, who escaped a possible upset with a 45-31 victory over the Hoosiers and have beaten the Buckeyes this year. That warrants the placement in the sixth spot, while Mandel had the Lions at No. 8. They’ll play Rutgers before closing out their season against the Spartans.
Rounding out the Big Ten teams is Wisconsin at No. 7. The Badgers beat Illinois 48-3 and held a fourth conference opponent to single digits, which is why they earned the spot, according to Feldman.
Mandel had the Badgers above the Lions at No. 6, but it appears Feldman sees more in the young Lions team.
The Badgers close their season with Purdue on Saturday then Minnesota in two weeks.
