The Big Ten boasts some of the best games on the schedule this college football season, and fans are clamoring to get in the building for many of these great matchups.
Between rivalry games, highly anticipated nonconference clashes and tilts between top brands, tickets to some of the Big Ten’s upcoming marquee games are in high demand. According to Vivid Seats, Big Ten teams are playing in six of the 25 most in-demand matchups this year when measured by median asking price. And half of those six games are being played this weekend.
So what are the hottest tickets left in the Big Ten this season?
Let’s take a look:
T-5. Michigan State at Notre Dame (Sept. 17)
Least expensive ticket for sale: $169
Median ticket asking price: $248
Even though the Fighting Irish lost their season opener against Texas, they still have a lot to play for. They will still have a pretty strong playoff resume if they can go undefeated the rest of the way.
Michigan State is hoping to make a run at a second straight Big Ten title and consecutive playoff berths. A win for either team would be a major resume boost. All that — combined with the game’s historic rivalry implications — make it a high-stakes, must-see event. The ticket is tied for No. 16 most in-demand for the remainder of the season.
T-5. Oregon at Nebraska (Sept. 17)
Least expensive ticket: $139
Median ticket price: $248
This weekend’s game between the Huskers and the Ducks is one of the few significant out-of-conference matchups left this year. As a result, it’s also tied for the No. 16 most in-demand ticket of the remaining season.
Both teams come into this week 2-0, and a win would catapult Nebraska back into the national spotlight.
4. Nebraska at Ohio State (Nov. 5)
Least expensive ticket: $99
Median ticket price: $255
The Huskers make it on this list twice, this time with their road trip to Columbus to take on Ohio State. Two programs with storied traditions meeting in a conference game for the first time since 2012? That’s something people want to see.
Getting into this game is a little more manageable, with the least expensive seats going for less than $100. The median ticket price, meanwhile, sits at $255. It’s the No. 14 most in-demand ticket left this season.
3. Michigan at Michigan State (Oct. 29)
Least expensive ticket: $148
Median ticket price: $353
Last year’s rivalry game between Michigan and Michigan State ended in the most dramatic fashion possible. Even if there’s little chance for this game to live up to that, people still want to be on hand to see what happens next in this series.
Whoever wins this game is expected to be Ohio State’s biggest competitor for the Big Ten East crown. The median ticket for this game goes for $353, making it the No. 8 most demanded ticket of the year.
2. Ohio State at Oklahoma (Sept. 17)
Least expensive ticket: $229
Median ticket price: $376
The Buckeyes travel to Norman, Okla., on Saturday to play the Sooners, and even with Oklahoma’s Week 1 loss to Houston, it’s still one of the most sought after tickets of the entire season. The Buckeyes are looking to make a statement on the road before beginning Big Ten play, while the Sooners are trying to convince people once again that all the preseason hype that surrounded them is warranted.
This nonconference heavyweight matchup is the No. 5 most in-demand ticket of the season, with a median price of $376. If you just want to get in the gate, the least expensive tickets available run for $229.
1. Michigan at Ohio State (Nov. 26)
Least expensive ticket: $249
Median ticket price: $596
Looking for the most popular ticket in college football this season? Look no further than Michigan at Ohio State. Tickets for this game are in higher demand than any other contest this season, even the Iron Bowl between Auburn and Alabama (No. 2), Georgia-Florida (No. 3) or Oklahoma-Texas (No. 4). The least expensive tickets available cost $249. Want a better seat? The median ticket price is $596.
Many are viewing Michigan’s trip to Columbus on Nov. 26 as the “real” Big Ten title game. Part of the high demand probably also comes from Michigan’s fan base, which travels extremely well. The Wolverines have the greatest impact on median ticket price for road games of any team in the country. On average, Michigan’s road games drive up the median ticket price in the opposing stadium by 147 percent.
