At this time in exactly one month, Americans will be shirking responsibility to pencil in their brackets. But 27 days away from Selection Sunday, the bubble picture is still far from clear.
Experts are making their projections, and if the season ended Monday, there is a consensus that the Big Ten would send seven teams to the big dance: Purdue, Wisconsin, Maryland, Northwestern, Minnesota, Michigan State and Michigan.
All seven of those teams were featured in the updated bracketology projections of ESPN, CBS and USA Today on Monday. Notably absent from those lists was Indiana, which has lost five of six and dropped a home game to Michigan on Sunday afternoon. Ohio State also saw its tournament chances take a hit on Saturday with a loss at No. 23 Maryland.
Without the Hoosiers or the Buckeyes, where do the experts think the rest of those Big Ten teams will be seeded? The projections are below:
|Wisconsin||5 seed||5 seed||6 seed|
|Purdue||4 seed||4 seed||5 seed|
|Maryland||6 seed||6 seed||6 seed|
|Northwestern||7 seed||7 seed||7 seed|
|Minnesota||8 seed||7 seed||8 seed|
|Michigan||11 seed||10 seed||10 seed|
|Michigan State||10 seed||10 seed||10 seed|
