The 2018 NCAA Tournament wrapped up Monday night with Villanova’s dominant win over Michigan. But the speculation about next year’s big dance is already here. ESPN’s Joe Lunardi released the first edition of his 2019 NCAA Tournament Bracketology on Wednesday. Things are looking up for the Big Ten.
Lunardi included seven Big Ten teams in his bracket and has two more (Wisconsin and Indiana) among his first eight teams out of the tournament. The 2018-19 season could be a stronger one in the Big Ten after the conference sent just four teams to March Madness in 2018.
The 2019 Bracketology can be found here. Below are the Big Ten teams in the projected bracket and their seeds:
- Michigan State: 2 seed
- Michigan: 3 seed
- Ohio State: 6 seed
- Purdue: 7 seed
- Nebraska: 9 seed
- Maryland: 10 seed
- Penn State: 11 seed
Obviously a lot can change between April 4 and when the college basketball season starts again in mid-November, including players deciding to enter the 2018 NBA Draft or return to school. But it’s still intriguing to take a look at what kind of expectations experts already have for the 2018-19 campaign.
