Penn State and Ohio State continue to lead the weekly Land of 10 Big Ten Power Poll after Week 8.
Which means there’s a huge showdown in Week 9: No. 1 vs. No. 2.
The Nittany Lions are again the unanimous No. 1 team in the Power Poll after their 42-13 rout of Michigan on Saturday. The Buckeyes didn’t play, but nonetheless they held off undefeated Wisconsin for the No. 2 spot.
Penn State travels to Columbus this weekend for a Saturday showdown with Ohio State, who will be looking to avenge its upset loss at the hands of the Nittany Lions last season.
As for the rest of the Power Poll, the top 5 remains unchanged from last week: Penn State, Ohio State, Wisconsin, Michigan State and Michigan. Even with the Wolverines’ blowout loss to Penn State, Michigan holding at No. 5 shows clear separation from that group from the rest of the conference.
Northwestern made the biggest jump this week, going from No. 8 to No. 6 following its 17-10 victory against Iowa — a result which pushed the Hawkeyes down a spot to No. 7.
Purdue had the biggest fall of any team this week, falling from an impressive seventh to No. 13 following the Boilermakers’ 14-12 loss at Rutgers.
