Even though Ohio State had a bye week, the Buckeyes have been so impressive that there was no concern about them losing their hold on rankings.
But after No. 1? That’s where the movement happened.
Wisconsin is the big winner, as the Badgers are now No. 2 in both ESPN’s and the Big Ten Network’s Big Ten Power Rankings. The rankings are put together by Jesse Temple (ESPN) and Tom Dienhart (Big Ten Network).
Temple on ranking Wisconsin No. 2:
The Badgers dominated Michigan State 30-6 to prove their season-opening victory against LSU was no fluke. This team has passed every test thus far, and the good news is we don’t have to wait long to see another seismic Big Ten game. Wisconsin plays in the Big House against Michigan on Saturday.
Both Dienhart and Temple had the same Top 4 this week: Ohio State, Wisconsin, Michigan and Nebraska.
But while Dienhart had Iowa fifth, Temple was less forgiving, putting the Hawkeyes No. 7.
As the conference schedule continues, we’ll get more clarity. At the least, this time next week it’ll be clear whether Michigan or Wisconsin should be No. 2 in the conference.
