Penn State’s shocking 24-21 win against No. 2 Ohio State made the College Football Playoff race that much more intense. Ohio State may not be out of the running entirely, but it’ll make the remaining regular season more wide open.
Yet again, the message is clear: Don’t assume anything when it comes to college football.
But what does it mean for the Big Ten’s bowl situation?
Well, CBS Sports’ Jerry Palm still has Ohio State making the CFP, likely under the belief that the Buckeyes will win out (and could grab a win against unbeaten Michigan in the regular-season finale for a boost). But he also has Michigan in the Rose Bowl and Wisconsin in the Orange Bowl.
As for ESPN’s Mark Schlabach, he ranks Michigan No. 2 for the playoff with Nebraska among the “next four in contention.”
Here’s where Palm has the Big Ten‘s projected bowl teams:
Ohio State: College Football Playoff vs. Alabama
Michigan: Rose Bowl vs. Utah
Wisconsin: Orange Bowl vs. Louisville
Nebraska: Outback Bowl vs. Florida
Minnesota: Music City Bowl vs. Ole Miss
Indiana: Foster Farms Bowl vs. Washington State
Iowa: Pinstripe Bowl vs. Pitt
Penn State: Holiday Bowl vs. Stanford
Maryland: Heart of Dallas Bowl vs. Western Kentucky
Northwestern: Quick Lane Bowl vs. Eastern Michigan
