Get used to those early season conference games, Big Ten basketball fans. The Big Ten will again have league games in December during the 2018-19 season, according to Jon Rothstein of FanRag Sports.
Like they did this season, teams will reportedly play two Big Ten games (one at home and one on the road) in early December and then return to conference play in early January. Rothstein reported the early Big Ten games in the 2018-19 season will take place between Nov. 30 and Dec. 4.
The conference went with the early games in the 2017-18 season to accommodate the Big Ten Tournament taking place a week earlier than usual. The Big Ten Tournament is at Madison Square Garden in New York in 2018.
The Big Ten Tournament should be back to its usual week in 2019 when it’s at the United Center in Chicago. However, the Big Ten is expanding to a 20-game conference schedule next season. Having the two early season conference games again will allow teams to play nonconference games up to the new year.
