Four Big Ten teams are ranked in the latest AP Top 25 poll, but AP national college football writer Ralph Russo believes voters are too impressed with three of them. In his Heat Check assessment, Russo wrote that No. 2 Ohio State, No. 4 Michigan and No. 12 Nebraska are “too hot.”
Russo deemed No. 11 Wisconsin’s ranking as “Just right.”
“Aside from that Oklahoma victory, the Buckeyes competition has been soft,” Russo wrote of Ohio State. The Buckeyes host Indiana (3-1) following the Hoosiers’ upset of then-No. 16 Michigan State last Saturday.
Michigan (5-0) is undefeated and will play its first road game of the season on Saturday at Rutgers.
“Hard not to glance ahead on the schedule and see back-to-back games at Wisconsin and Ohio State to determine Nebraska’s season,” Russo wrote about the Huskers. “But can we trust the Huskers to take care of business against Indiana and Purdue first? That Oregon victory is not aging well.”
Nebraska will play at Indiana after a bye week this weekend.
